User Interface

SFX is based on the Cue List and the GO button. Once you drop your cues into a Cue List from Windows Explorer or the SFX Toolbox, you hit the on-screen GO button to execute your cues.  There are also other windows such as the Transport window and the Active Matrix window that help you with monitoring and editing your cues.  Tell me more about the interface...

Cue List

The Cue List is the basis for SFX: you can drop in sound cues, MIDI cues, and other special cues.  You can also have multiple cue lists.

A green bar highlights the Standby cue, which is the cue that will play when the GO Button is pressed.  As soon as a cue receives a GO, the next cue will immediately enter Standby which will allow you to begin playing it even before the preceding cue is finished playing. For example, if you click GO on a long rain cue, the Standby would immediately drop down to the next effect which could be a thunder cue, and when you hit GO the thunder will automatically overlap with the rain -- and all other playing cues.

You can use special effect types such as Waits and Autofollows to link cues together, and there is even a Volume Change cue that will allow you to automate the fading of your sound cues. Tell me more about Cue Lists...
